Since the weather is still playing tricks on us - it's been a cold, rainy and windy weekend - I try and get as much spring inside the house as I possibly can. Therefor my beloved hyacinths are having a comeback this week. I bet once the weather's finally a bit more steady here in Germany we MacroBloggers will probably show a whole lot more shots from outside of the house. For now though, I am giving you one of my faves.
I hope your week is off to a good start. Tomorrow's my last day and I won't be returning to work until next Tuesday - one blissful week off from work - ah, I hope it lasts FOREVER!
Happy Monday, y'all - linking up with Steffi again!
sushi // our town at night - castle and all
knitting progress // happy mail from home // yum
kitty watching me // clouds // Easter
What can I say - give me sushi and I am one happy camper. I know, I know…it's just so good and my girl is just as much a fan as I am. Went to run some errands in the city last week and couldn't help myself but stop by our sushi place to get some take out. I also got some new yarn, again, even though I am still working on that colourful shawl you can see up there. You must know, the yarn store is right across the street from the sushi place, so there's that.
We took a drive one night last week in our new car (picture will follow, promise) and stopped mid-town so I could snap a fast pic of our castle here. It's just gorgeous and well worth a visit or two. Weikersheim is a historic small town and there is always something going on, like open air movies or operas in the castle's courtyard during summer.
My dear friend, Hollie, took a trip to Chicago 2 weeks ago and she was so kind to send me a post card from my home away from home. Most of you will know that we lived there for 3 years from 2008 to 2011 and that I left my heart there, hoping to be able to return one day for good. Thank you again, Hollie, this absolutely made my day! I might have cried a tear or two.
My kitty, Miley, she is always there with me. My sweet and soft grey shadow. Never far away, always watching over me. My sweet furry friend. Love her with all my heart and cherish all the kitty purrs and massages I can get.
Hoping you all had a wonderful week and all is well where ever you may be! Happy Weekend!

It's been a long week and time for my blog has been rare. My mind has been with all the victims of the awful plane crash in the French Alps. May they rest in peace - they will never be forgotten.
If you know me, you will know that I am a coffee freak. So, it's no wonder today's MacroMonday is all about coffee. Doesn't that milk foam look delicious! I'm linking up with Steffi again.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and your week is off to a good start.
A lot of good things have happened this past week. One of which was getting a second car. I have yet to take a pic - can you believe I didn't even have the time to, yet?! I was just so busy driving around in it! haha - It's so much fun and I will be so more independent of the mister's working hours. It was only a matter of time to purchase a second car - we were just waiting for the right moment.
It's been a fun weekend. We went on a breakfast date with our girl yesterday morning and did some shopping in the city afterward. I got a new purse from my man and savored some delicious cafe latte. <I guess it's safe to say that I love coffee.> We got some daffodils, they are so precious, and stopped by my IL's to pick up some fresh eggs from their chickens - they lay so many eggs, it probably means they're happy chicken!
I cast on for a new shawl with the yarn I got for my birthday - it knits up wonderfully, is super soft and I'm in love with the flow of colors. It will make for the perfect shawl for cool summer nights on the patio.
All in all everything seems fine the way things are right now - knock on wood - I hope it lasts!
What have you been up to this weekend? Anything fun or exciting going on?

What are you happy about this week?
Have a fab weekend - I will probably driving around in my new car. So happy right now!
a little Easter deco // snail mail // spring

While I was cleaning the office trying to declutter, probably for the 100th time, I came across this shoe box full of random photos I had never taken the time to scrapbook. There was this one in particular of my girl during an Easter egg hunt at my parents' about 8 years ago. Oh my, just look at her! Could she be any cuter? I really miss those days. Why does time go by so fast? Why can't it slow down so we can cherish those moments a little more before they pass by and never come back!
In regards of my OLW thrive I will work hard to try and cherish those kind of moments more. The daily rush and stress make us walk through life as if we were blind-folded, not looking left or right, not seeing what is really going on around us. I want to do better. I want to be more in the now. I want to live each minute the best I can. After all, it could all be over in a heartbeat, right?
These cute tiny little flowers are part of a spring bouquet I got from my loved ones. I just couldn't resist to take a snapshot of them. So precious. I am posting this macro shot as part of the MacroMonday linky Steffi from glasklar & kunterbunt has going on every week.
Guys, my dad is home! He was able to leave the hospital this morning and is now safely at home enjoying today's spring like weather on the patio! I couldn't be any happier! I am super relieved and hope things will be ok! No one really needs such a scare - it was one of the hardest things to encounter - seeing my dad so helpless! Things like this show how much we really love and need one another and how fast things can take an unexpected turn! Hold them close, your loved ones and let them know that you love them!
Saturday night my man took me to the movies to get my head off of things. We saw Kingsman - The Secret Service and I must say, I really liked it! It was funny, emotional and a lot of fighting went on. I loved Colin Firth and Samuel L.Jackson in their roles. Especially Colin Firth looked so dapper in his suits!
I hope your week is off to a good start. Mine sure was after receiving the news of my dad returning home - such happiness!
It's been a whirlwind of a week. Between going to work, rushing home to take care of the pup and kitty, making lunch and turning on the washer and dryer here and there, last week was spent at my dad's bedside in the hospital hoping for a quick recovery.
My dad had a TIA and because of the quick help and medical care he is doing super fine! He has been hospitalized since last Tuesday and we are hoping for him to be able to return home by Tuesday. His medication has been adjusted, he underwent several examinations like a few CAT scans, an MRI, ultra sound of all the important veins and several other tests.
I am super relieved that he is doing so great and couldn't be any happier. It has been an emotional roller coaster for the entire family and we are all so happy that things took a turn for the better!
Thank you all so very much for all the well wishes, for your kind comments and emails - they really meant the world! I am very grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing friends all over the world - DANKE!
Hugs and Happy Sunday xxx
Yesterday I got a call at work. It was my mom. She could hardly speak, she was so upset. With a weeping voice she told me that my dad wasn't able to speak properly any more. He had started babbling a few minutes ago and not a single word came out of his mouth. He just kept on shaking his head when she asked him something whilst bashfully smiling obviously feeling ashamed of not being able to express himself.
I told her to call an ambulance right away and said that he was possibly having a stroke. I laid down my pen, grabbed my bag telling my co-worker what was going on while leaving the room. I saw her nodding from the corner of my eye and heard her saying to drive safely as I walked out the building.
I grabbed my cell phone right away to call my husband who thankfully works 3 buildings down the road. I picked him up on the way, we changed seats, I was no longer able to drive, still in shock about what I had just heard. Then I called my mom again to reassure her that we were on our way and she confirmed that an ambulance was on its way to them.
We arrived simultaneously with the ambulance, I got out of the car, ran to my parents' house and headed inside where the doctor immediately started examining my dad. It scared me so much to see him that way. Pale, sweaty, his eyes filled with fear of what was happening, trying to speak but not being able to form a word. Was he going to be ok?!
They brought him to the ambulance right away not to lose precious time, I drove with them to the hospital. Stefan, my husband, took care of my mom. They picked up Leonie and followed us after a while.
At the hospital the doctors started doing their examinations, tests, an ECG, they did a CAT scan and all the things they do when a patient with a possible stroke is admitted. Thankfully after a while he began to speak again. He told me that he was so upset about not being able to respond to my mom. He tried to get the words out but his body wouldn't let him. He told me that it felt like being surrounded by a bubble.
He is so much better today. I just came home from visiting him. Gosh, I am so relieved. They ran several tests today and found out that everything seems perfectly fine now. His blood pressure is a bit high, but they are already adjusting it with a new medication. There are still some tests they want to run in the next few days, but he will be ok! It seems that there was a super cautious guardian angel watching over my dad and I am so grateful.
Please keep us in your thoughts and send some good vibes!
It's so much fun walking through my garden spotting new signs of spring almost every day now. The weather has been wonderful these past few days with the sun shining and the temps in the low 60's and high 50's pulling us outside to soak up all the vitamin D we can get.
These cute crocus are peeking up from the mulch in our front yard and I couldn't help but snap a pic of them.
Happy Monday - linking up with Steffi's MacroMonday over at glasklar & kunterbunt
a shirt I saw shopping // sunrise on my morning commute // brick wall on our walk
roses // tiny skein of yarn // blue skies all week
reflection on our walk // coffee break // signs of spring
My first week working 6 hours per day went by on a whim. Those 2 hours more just seemed to fly by every day and I didn't even notice them at work that much. The one thing I did notice was having less time for the things I have to do at home, like preparing meals, doing the laundry, taking the pup out etc.
Thankfully my man is very supportive and pitches in here and there making it easier for me. Thanks, hubbers. Leonie is very helpful as well, now that she is getting older she takes over some tasks at home which is a huge relief. Thanks, sweetie!
All in all things are falling into place and I can feel this inner pacification as things occur. I feel like I am on the right path now, for now. Who knows what the future will bring, but it has been a long way here and I am starting to try to savor these littles accomplishments day by day.
I hope your weekend was just as fun-filled and sunny as mine was.
Summing up this week as follows:
T H E G O O D
- loving my new job - it's so much fun
- a husband helping me adjust to my new routine
- coming home to my furry "people" who are so happy to see me
- café latte all the way, baby
- my first ice cream of the year at the Italian ice cream parlor around the corner
- the weekend - duh
T H E B A D
- snow over night that gladly disappeared during the morning
- cold and icy winds on our daily walks, so over it
- reckless drivers putting others in danger because of their stupidity
- thought this week would never end
- witnessing an ugly argument between 2 co-workers
T H E U G L Y
- jealousy of a co-worker towards my new position
- dealing with not trustworthy people
- cleaning out a gross trash bin
- being disappointed by someone I thought I knew, finding out I was wrong about that
- "friends" that only know who you are when they need you
Now it's your turn to share the good, the bad and the ugly of your week!
Happy weekend, friends!
It's been a rather busy week so far. I increased my working hours from 4 hours per day to 6 on Monday and I am still in the process of getting used to my new schedule. Everything still feels a bit odd, even our pets still have to get used to it. But, we are getting there - it's just a matter of time and mindset. I thought it'd be fun to choose 5 words that describe best how I'm feeling right now.
2. Worn out.
Feeling all the feels and so in need of a relaxing vacation.
Maybe you want to play along and share how you are today? I'd love to here!
My Project 52 post is 2 days late this week. I guess it's because I took the weekend off for some much needed quality time with the fam sans camera. Sometimes I just need to focus on what's going on around me rather than watching the world through my lens. We strolled threw a new mall in Stuttgart which is about 1.5 hours away from us on Saturday and on Sunday we went to see "Into the Woods".
I did manage to take my "normal" daily shots while taking the pup for her walk or being the passenger next to the mister driving. I got a new piece of furniture for my birthday and Leonie helped me decorate it. We visited our local library and found their new chill out zone for teenagers. Kyra and I captured a few signs of spring on our walks and figured out that love is everywhere to be found.
Aren't those blue skies just so beautiful?
How has your week been so far? And are there already signs of spring in your neck of the woods?
I am linking up with glasklar & kunterbunt once again for MacroMonday by reversing things a little. Normally the focus is on the blossom of a plant but today I am showing you a close up of the bulbs, because in my opinion they deserve some attention as well. Just look at the lovely colors and the different layers as well as the fresh green popping out on top!
