How I Feel In 5 Words.

Happy Humpday, yay! Aren't you glad half of the week is almost over? I sure am. I have been subbing for my co-worker again and with the end of the year getting closer, work is super busy, so tackling 2 fulltime jobs every day is quite the task. All the while my co-worker is on a 2-week-long Carribbean cruise - well, thank you. Needless to say that I am craving a break really bad! Cannot wait for our Christmas break - 3.5 more weeks to go.

So, here's how I am today:

1. Overwhelmed.

2. Tired.

3. Busy.

4. Hopeful.

5. Content.

SaveSaveEven though life is so busy right now and I wished the day had more than 24 hours so I could get a little more sleep in, I am still happy and feel accomplished about what life throws my way. Because nothing and no-one can take this one down easily. HA

I have been thinking a lot latey. Don't we all tend to towards the end of a year? We start reminiscing about the past months and the things that happened throughout the year. A lot of people I have been talking to are glad to see 2016 go. It wasn't a good year for many, so they are looking forward to a fresh start.

For me my family 2016 has been a very good and successful year. We were able to grow and accompish so many positive things, so it won't be as easy for me to let go of it. But I am eagerly looking towards 2017 and cannot wait to see what it holds in store for all of us!

Gift Guide For Your Dog

Gift Guide for your Dog

Our family consists of 5 members. The mister and I, Leonie our daughter, Kyra our Greek pup and Miley our American kitty, a Russian Blue mix. It is absolutely out of the question for us to get gifts for Kyra and Miley as well. We celebrate their birthdays (we didn't know their exact birthdays because we adopted both of them, we only knew their approximate birth dates, so we set one for each and we celebrate them every year).

We love celebrating Christmas and I so enjoy getting the perfect present for everyone. Needless to say that I also get gifts for my furry kids. Last year we got a super comfy new bed for Kyra, like the one pictured above. She absolutely loves it and when the kitty sometimes jumps into it and gets cozy, she just sits there and watches. She would never make her leave the bed. Probably because she fears the kitty could get aggravated, after all Miley is the boss. True cat behaviour. haha

We also got a new stand for her bowls. Kyra is as big as a Lab and as some of you might know, she suffers from Arthritis, so we try to make things as easy and comfortable for her as we can, like the comfy and warm bed. The food and water bowl stand allow her to eat and drink water without bending down too far. This is not just beneficial for her Arthritis but it is also good for her digestion.

Kyra was never really into fetching things but she has always loved chewing toys as well as stuffed animals and she loves getting a good massage while brushing her. So I make sure to get a new toy every now and then and I brush her fur every day because she tends to lose a lot of hair. A lot.

This year we will treat her to a new leather collar with a name tag plus a new leash. I also bought a few new toys and a comfy blanket for her bed. Of course there will be a ton of yummy treats and rawhides which she especially loves.

Do you have a pet and if yo, do you love spoiling it as well?

Life Lately.

What's been going on.
Life has been busy and full of work. Like I mentioned before, with the year winding down work gets crazier and busier before finally winding down as well. To be honest, I really like this end-of-year craze because it reminds me that the holidays are so close, that the year is coming to an end and new possibilities for the new year start arising slowly. I love the feeling of being able to do anything you set your heart and mind to at the beginning of a new year. Don't you?

With work being so crazy and have been craving being lazy whenever I had the chance to. I picked up my knitting a lot lately (my kitty is my constant companion while doing so), I've watched Netflix (The Crown and Stepmom, an all time favorite) and I have been enjoying giving myself manicures at least once a week. It's been so much fun experimenting with different colors - my co-workers always pay attention to my finger nails to see if I'm wearing a different color than the day before. haha

Life Lately.
I have been doing a little shopping for a few new Christmas decoration items, I like adding something new every other year. I've enjoyed coffee dates including cake with my girlfriends and a few sushis dates as well. Went on long walks with the pup weather permitting and I've been having a lot of fun with my Apple watch. Gosh there are so many things you can do with it and I haven't even figured out half of them. Do any of you have an Apple watch and therefor any app recommendations? I'd love to hear!

What have you been up to?

Give Thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving
Today is Thanksgiving in the US and I want to wish all of my American friends Happy Holidays - enjoy some time with your loved ones. I believe that with all the negative things going on around the world it is even more important to come together and celebrate the things we can be grateful for.

There is so much I am truly grateful for. My family and friends, my health, my job and our home.
I am very grateful for this blog and all of you who make it so much more special. I am so thankful for each and every one of you, for taking the time to stop by and write a few words! That really means the world and I cannot put into words how much I appreciate that!

"It's Not Happy People Who Are Thankful - It's Thankful People Who Are Happy!"

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Happy Thursday and Happy Thanksgiving xxx

How I Feel In 5 Words.

How are you? Feelings
Can you believe it's already Wednesday? Time sure is flying by and before we know it the year will be over. Everyone in the US is gearing up for Thanksgiving and despite some saying it's wrong to celebrate when there is so much evil going on in the world, I think it is the absolute right thing to do if you can - because we cannot just worry and live in fear of what is and what might be, we also have to be able to live as positive a life as we possibly can and celebrating things to be grateful for is a wonderful thing. If I might say so. Don't you agree?

Life has been crazy as always and my emotions have been all over the place. Literally - all. over. the. place. So, here's how I am today:

1. Confused.

2. Contemplative.

3. Expectant.

4. Content.

5. Anxious.

How I Feel In 5 Words.

This job thing I have been giving hints about still needs to be figured out by me. I am at a place and state of mind in my life where I feel there still has to be more to come and so I am still pondering on what to do. Just know, all is well and I will let you know more, once I know more. haha

Now, before I go, tell me - HOW ARE YOU?

I Do Not Work For Free And Neither Should You.

Do not work for free.
Being a blogger having a more or less successful blog with a certain amount of page views and following will inevitably have certain companies come knocking for a sponsored post. They will contact you with a specific idea of what they want you to write about. And they will ask you to get back to them in case you are interested.

You will answer them wanting to know more about the specifics like what key points they want you to mention, what kind of links they will want you to include. You might want to ask about pictures to be used in the post and so on and so forth. The emailing will probably go back and forth a few times until all the details have been discussed.

But - did they ever mention COMPENSATION in one of their emails? Did they tell you what kind of budget they have available and what they are willing to pay and when they are planning to pay?

In my experience most companies asking to work with me never mention the money topic without me asking about it. I have had a few experiences where they told me right away what they were looking for and what it was worth to them. So I knew what to expect, if there was room for negotiating and if I was willing to do it or not.

Brands want exposure and they will look for certain blogs to get it. I often get the "Sorry, we are still just a small company growing and have no budget available at this point - we hope it's not a requirement for your blog…" or "please keep in mind that even if we do not have compensation possibilities we will add your post to all our social media to get you the biggest exposure we can…." - so basically they want me to work for free in exchange for promotion.

They know how much work, effort and time go into running a blog, keeping it updated regularly, connecting with other bloggers, visiting other blogs, reading, commenting, taking photos, editing, typing up a blog post, tweeting, instagraming, facebooking, emailing, newsletters, pinning and so on.

They know but still do not want to pay for my time, work and effort.

Charge what you are worth as a blogger!

So, whenever I hear the "sorry, but we don't have a budget at this point and aren't planning on having compensation", they get a "Sorry, but I am sure you will understand that I cannot work for free!" from me. I will let them know that they may add me to their list of influencers and whenever a paid opportunity arises I will gladly reconsider.

I don't work for free and neither should you!

Our job as bloggers is hard work and we deserve to get paid for it! Nobody works for free and whenever you consider doing so, you are sending the message that blogging isn't worth getting paid for. We put hours and hours into our blogs, our connections with others and into researching and editing, so please, be sure to charge what you are worth!

What is your experience? Do you work for free?

Happy Anniversary - 23 Years Later.

Anniversary

Today marks a very special day - 23 years ago today the mister and I kissed for the very first time and have been together ever since. We've been through highs and lows, we moved abroad together and returned to Germany together. We are parents to a wonderful teenage girl who fills our hearts with joy and pride. We finish one another sentences and can read our minds. He is my soulmate and although he occasionally drives me nuts, I wouldn't want to change a thing. He is the one. He has always been and will always be the one for me.

Thank you for 23 years by my side - through the good and the bad. Through happiness and grief, through laughs and tears. Thank you for being there for me no matter what. Thank you for holding my hand and walking next to me at all times. Love you from the bottom of my heart.

A Quote Can Make You Stronger.

Quotes, life, wise words
I love a good quote. Whenever I see or hear one, I have to jot it down immediately not to forget it. I believe that a good quote can make such a difference. It can lift you up and give you a positive attitude whenever you need a pick-me-up. It can guide you through a rough day or week, heck, some can even guide you through life.

quotes, words, sayings

A good quote can make you feel so much stronger. It can encourage you to believe in yourself and not listen to what others say. Because words of others can be cruel. And hurtful. And they stick with us for a very long time. I am 40 now and I can still remember some of the hurtful things that were said to me during my school time. They don't hurt anymore and the sting they used to cause when thinking of them is long gone - but the words are still there, somewhere in the back of my mind. Stuck in there for eternity.

quotes, wise words, sayings

I believe in being respectful. It has always been one of the most important virtues to me. Respect and also honesty. I find it hard to understand why most people are so disrespectful. And whenever someone treats me with disrespect, I struggle accepting that it's just the way people are now. It hurts to be confronted with such negative behavior.

quotes, wise words, sayings
Just yesterday I had this encounter at the grocery store. Someone wanted to cut in line. I asked that person politely to wait for his turn and reminded him that I had been there before him and already waiting for more than 10 minutes. After all I am a working mom with a child at home waiting for me. I don't have the time for that kind of bullshit - please excuse my French. That person went on about how I could be so impudent and that he had never experienced such rude behavior. Excuse me? You were the one to cut in line. Not me. I had been waiting there just minding my business before you came along.

quotes, wise words, sayings
I decided that such a person wasn't worth my breath nor my time, I told him exactly that and turned away from him to keep on waiting patiently for my turn, with him behind me in line where he belonged. I cannot deny having the warm feeling of satisfaction over putting that person in his place right then and there. I couldn't help but grin and it lasted all the way home.

Don't let others step on you. Don't let them belittle you. Don't let them tell you what to do or how to be. Don't give them control over you. Don't waste your time with them!

Now, tell me, do you have a favourite quote? Please do share it in the comments! Thanx.

How I Feel In 5 Words.

can you describe your emotions in 5 words?
The middle of the week is here. Thank goodness. The end of a year is always super busy at work. So many things need to be finalized before the year is over and other things have to be planned for the new year coming. All the while everyone being stressed out and super ready for the Christmas break. I am really looking forward to our Christmas break. I can't wait to have a few days off to unwind and spend some quality time with the family.

Christmas presents are pretty much a done deal for me and I am super happy about that. I just need one more gift which I will grab at an outlet close to us this coming weekend. It's for my SIL and I know she will love it. I just cannot say what it is right now, because I am not sure if she visits my blog and I wouldn't want to spoil it.

I am feeling rather okay today - nothing spectacular has happened so far this week, but then again, does it always have to be something spectacular? I think not…so, here we go. Today I feel:

1. Excited.

2. Happy.

3. Anxious. (it's job-related, more on that later)

4. Positive.

5. Grateful.

How I Feel In 5 Words.

Regarding my emotions it's been a pretty positive week so far. I hope that won't change. Mood swings can be really tricky and don't we all have them. And especially us ladies have those days filled with hormonal outbreaks. Don't we? I guess that's life and just the way it is.

I hope you are all fine and your week has been nothing but wonderful!

Now, tell me, How Are You In 5 Words or less.

Fall Essentials.

Fall Essentials

I just love this time of year. I can finally wear my beloved layers. Cardigans and scarfs are my go to office outfit when it gets colder. A cute pair of booties, a matching bag and a warm winter hat and your outfit is perfect. Finally the time has come where you can light your scented candles and put some glitter on your nails. During fall I like wearing darker lipsticks and a bit more rouge and Leonie and I recently discovered the Naked2 palette from UD and just had to have it. I rarely wear other earrings than a pair of pearls, they are so classy and chic and somehow they just belong to me.

I have acquired quite a collection of scarfs over the past few years, so I wear a different one almost every day. I always try to match the color or design to the rest of my outfit. Do you like wearing a scarf? And then there are cardigans. They are so cozy and comfy but also make you feel dressed up when combining them with a scarf and a cute top, shirt or blouse. I think they are more comfortable than a blazer, so I prefer them for my everyday. Unless I have an important meeting at work, that's when I rather opt for a blazer, after all it is a bit more "official". You know what I mean?

And then there are warm beverages. Coffee and tea are my favorite. Not so much a hot cocoa lover. And I don't want to overdo it with the caffeine, so I prefer a tea in the afternoons. Something herby or a green/ white tea. I do love me a good cup of chai tea with a little milk. Mmh, so delicious! Are you a tea drinker? If so, what kind do you like most?

I'd love to hear what some of your fall essentials are?

Things I Love.

Trying to spread positivity in these hard times after the election.
I have been trying to focus on the positive things. And even though it's not always easy, it does help me get my mind off of things and puts a smile in my heart every now and then.

This past weekend I enjoyed going to bed without having to set the alarm and counting the hours of sleep I still had left before having to get up again. I usually get up at 5:30 am, so I definitely enjoyed sleeping in two days in a row. I have been a bit under the weather lately, feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders and my doctor told me sleep, good food and enough fluids were key to feeling better. I can absolutely say that the much needed rest plus some good food and lots of tea have helped fuel my body and I feel a bit more rested and semi-ready for the next work week.

Netflix has once again managed to surprise me with a new production. The Crown - I started watching last Wednesday and have been hooked ever since. I am not binge watching this one though - I want the magic to last a little longer this time, so I don't allow myself more than one episode a day. Sounds weird? Maybe. But I have been racing through some other shows lately, and I find that when I watch too many episodes at once, I don't really remember what I actually saw over the last few hours.

Christmas presents are all but one done. I have been wanting to get head start on Christmas shopping forever but never managed, because of, well, life. So, this time I decided to make a list of things I could gift to certain people as the ideas came along throughout the year. Whenever someone told me what they'd love to have but didn't want to spend the money on, I jotted it down on my list. I am really looking forward to seeing the expressions on some faces come the time to unwrap those gifts.

Spotify. It makes me happy. Music is my life and I couldn't imagine it without. Since signing up for a family account the possibilities of hearing your favorite song no matter where you are at that moment are nearly endless and I couldn't be happier about that!

Picmonkey is another thing putting a smile in my heart. I finally decided to take the plunge and sign up for a royale account. I decided to go with the annual version saving me some extra bucks and I am loving all the features that are available now. I haven't even tried them all out, yet, but I am super happy I decided to sign up! Picmonkey has been my go to photo editor for my blog for the past 2 years or more, so this is super exciting to me.

Now it's your turn - despite all the craziness going on in the world - what are some of the things you have been loving lately?

Happy Friday | V16.45

Happy Friday
It's probably safe to say that this week has been challenging for most of us. The anticipation, the waiting and than hearing the results of the presidential election had us all on the edge of despair and now we just need some time to process what is going on.

I heard someone saying that he hated it when non-Americans were having an opinion about American politics. He told us Germans to take care of our own business and not stick our nose into his or America's for that matter. He went on saying that if the whole world weren't so focused on the US, everything there would be different. He didn't or does not understand that everything that happens in the States politically also has an affect on the rest of the world. I mean, just look at what happened to the stock market after the election. Just because we're not on the same continent (although that guy lives in Germany but is an American) doesn't mean we're not in the same boat, because we actually are.

Anyways -

It's been a tough week, yes, but at least my week did have its positive side and today I am sharing a little of it:

1. Puppy snores next to me.

2. Kitty purrs on my lap while knitting.

3. A tight hug from my daughter, Leonie.

4. French lessons with her after school - merci beaucoup.

5. Long fall walks in the crisp air.

6. The Walking Dead (although it was tough)

7. Knitting

8. New black booties.

9. A manicure.

10. Chili - I needed comfort food.

I bet your week had a few Happy Moments, maybe even a lot, as well and I would love for you to share some - just for the sake of sharing a little HAPPY!

Coffee Talk | Let's Have A Cuppa.

Let's have a cup of coffee.
Don't you think it's about time that we meet up for a cup of coffee again? It's been a while and a lot has happened, so why don't we sit down, order a cuppa and talk. Just talk

I cherish those moments where I can be myself with someone and don't have to hold back or pretend in any kind of form. Because let's be honest, nobody is ever 100% honest when out and about. My co-worker for instance, she always tries so hard and just doesn't see that everyone else notices her trying so hard.

Anyways, if we were to have a cup of coffee together I would express my disbelief about the outcome of the presidential election that happened yesterday. I just couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up to the news of the new President elect of the US. I know that this one really was a tough election because the choices weren't the most glorious, but I did hope for a different outcome. I really did. I am a bit worried about the consequences this might have, but I do still have hope that everything will be fine in the end.

I would also say that I think no one should be dissed for their beliefs, either political, religious, ethnical or whatever other beliefs you can think of. As long as no one gets harmed, I feel everyone should have the right to believe what he thinks is right. And no one should go against that or use it against one another.

Be respectful people - we are all we have and we are all in this together.

Let's have a cup of coffee.

Moving on….

After listening to what you have to say about that, I would tell you that I finally had the chance to watch the first 2 episodes of The Walking Dead's new season and I would say that I was really, really shocked and disgusted about what happened in episode 1. While watching I had a huge lump in my throat the entire time, trying to wrap my mind around what was going on. It all went so fast. And it was really hard to watch.

I do have to admit that I "forced" one of my US friends to tell me who got killed after she saw it, because I just couldn't take waiting any longer. So I kind of knew what to expect, but seeing it was all the more worse. Tears were involved - I know that this is just a show, but after watching it for so many years you get attached to the main characters and it was just so hard seeing Glenn and Abraham go. Period.

I might also let you know that I woke up to a dislocated vertebrae and am only able to function properly thanks to pain killers and a heat patch on my back. My morning shower was rather painful - tears were involved here as well. haha Here's to hoping it will be better tomorrow, otherwise a trip to the ER may be in order. So, please keep your fingers crossed!

What are some of the things you would like to share with me during our cup of coffee?

Happy Thursday and don't forget - each day is a brand new opportunity to grow!

How I Feel In 5 (6) Words.

How Are You, Feelings, Life
Wednesday is here and that's a good thing. So far it's been a pretty busy week work-wise. We've had several meetings and visitors at the office, so I really can't complain about not having anything to do. Besides that school started again after a week of fall vacation. It always takes a few days to get back into that morning routine after being able to sleep in for an entire week. Well, not me, but the kiddo! I still had to get up in the mornings to got to work, just not as early as usual - I had an extra 30 minutes to sleep - pure bliss, guys!

I have to admit though that I rather have busy days at the office, they go by faster than slow days where time just doesn't seem to move. Those days make a minute feel like an hour and I hate that. I rather have my desk full of work, that way I feel much more accomplished when heading home in the afternoon. How about you?

I feel pretty good about what I have been able to accomplish so far this week and I have a feeling the coming weekend will be wonderful. Here is how I am today:

1. Content.

2. Accomplished.

3. Needed.

4. Spoiled.

5. Grateful.

6. Worried. (an extra one this week #iwaswithher)

How Are You, Feelings, Life

Life has been treating me really good this year (knocking on wood) - I have no reasons to complain - I just hope next year will be just as wonderful!

Now it's your turn - How Are You?

In My Neck Of The Woods.

What's been going on in my neck of the woods.
You guys, I have really been enjoying fall around these parts. The weather has been treating us so good. We've been taking the pup for long walks in the fallen leaves. Last weekend we took her for a long walk in the sun through the vines in a vineyard not far away. It's so magical looking down onto the valley from way up there. The view seems endless and it makes my heart explode. It really are the little things in life that count the most.

We live in such a beautiful place here in southern Germany. Those two pictures above are from a cute town 10 minutes away from us called Bad Mergentheim. It has a castle and all! If you ever get the chance to travel here, maybe visiting Rothenburg ob der Tauber, which is really magical during Christmas, it has a beautiful Christmas Market, you should take the time to drive along the Romantic Road - it is absolutely worth a visit. And while you're at it - come by for a cup of coffee!

I am looking forward to the holidays. Us Germans usually don't celebrate Thanksgiving. It's just not a tradition here and most Germans have probably never heard of it. But since we spent 3 years in Chicago and I had the chance to spend 4 years of my childhood in Alabama, we brought that tradition home with us and we celebrate it every single year! It is something that reminds us of the wonderful time we had in the US and it is very important to us.

I can't believe 2016 is coming to an end. It feels like this year went by faster than any other year before. But, don't we always say that? It really feels like the older we get, the faster time goes by. 2016 has been a good one for us and I cannot wait to see what 2017 holds in store for us.

So, what have you been up to lately?

October Beauty Faves

Beauty Product Favourites
I love changing things up when it comes to beauty products, I like trying new things and I love getting recommendations from others about products they use and are clearly in love with. But, I will also stick to a brand or a specific product if I figure out that it is the perfect match for me. So today I am sharing some of my favorites, some products I just recently got or some I tried but don't approve of.

In the picture above you can see my beloved shower foam from Rituals "The Ritual of Dao Shower Foam" and the matching roll-on deodorant, I also use the matching deodorant spray (the Dove deodorant pictured above is ok, too). I have been using Rituals products for about 2 years now. It started with their hand creams and from there on out a trip to the mall included a trip to their store. I love using their products and I really love gifting them to others.

Micellar cleansing waters have been THE hype here in Germany for the past year or so. Of course I had to try them as well. And I started with one from Garnier, but what can I say, I didn't like it. It was oily, it felt stingy and I just couldn't us it. Although normally I really like Garnier products. Hence my disappointment. Nivea recently added the one pictured above to their repertoire and I thought I'd give it a try. I love it, it's perfect for my sensitive skin and the most important thing, it does the job.

I tried the shampoo and conditioner above, because everyone and their mother was gushing about it. I am glad I only got the travel size, because I do not like it at all and I do not think it is worth the price tag. Period. Moving on. #sorrynotsorry
Lush products - well, what can go wrong with Lush. I really like the tea tree water, it's perfect for my skin. I tend to have little blemishes during this time of the year and the tea tree oil has a really soothing effect.

Kanebo Sensai Kanebo Cellulare Performance Double
The Kanebo Sensai Kanebo Cellulare Performance Double is the newest addition to my beauty regime. As a matter of fact I just received it in the mail yesterday and I have yet to try it. My SIL has been using it for about a year now and she is absolutely in love with it. Her skin has tremendously improved since she has been using it and several comments about it from people who know her were proof enough for me to bite the bullet (it does have a price tag) and order it. I am looking forward to using it and I will keep you all posted on what it does for me. Being 40+ your perspective really shifts when it comes to skin care and I can say that drugstore products don't always fulfill my expectations. So, we'll see, if it's worth the price.

Do any of you know it or even use it? I'd love to hear!

Narciso Rodriguez

Some of you might already know how much I love Narciso Rodriguez "For Her". I discovered the perfume a year ago through a sample in a magazine while watching season one of "How to get away with Murder" and I just couldn't help myself but sniff that sample all the time, until the mister told me to finally order a bottle (he probably couldn't take it any more - haha). Whenever I wear it, people always ask me what wonderful scent that is. I can really say that this is MY scent and I love that I found it.

I also like Biotherm perfumes, they are fresh and light and the perfect scent for the day. They have several different ones and I always have at least one of them at home. I also recently started using that primer from Catrice (do you know that brand?) and I must say that I really like it. It doesn't feel sticky and it's a wonderful base for my make up. Those small container which are also from Catrice are different camouflage shades I use to cover up red, dark circles and some skin impurities I have. They are awesome. I tried ArtDeco camouflage products before finding these and in comparison they are just as good, that's why they found their way into my make up basket.

So, there you have my October Beauty Faves - some of which will most likely stick around. Hope you enjoyed them!

Now, tell me - do you use some of the products above? Also, please do share some of your beauty faves in the comments below - I'd really love to hear!

Happy Monday xxx

Please note that this in NOT a sponsored post - all opinions are my own and all products have been purchased by myself. I just like them and wanted to share that with you.

Happy Friday | V16.44

It's been a short week for us, but I am nonetheless glad today is Friday. Yesterday was kind of a shitty day. Not really sure what it was, but everything sort of seemed off, so I am more than ready for the weekend. All in all it's been a good week though and it has had it's fair share of HAPPY MOMENTS, some of which are:

1. a short work week

2. Sushi with my girl

3. a manicure

4. a new winter coat

5. girls' night out tonight

6. the Cubs won the World Series

7. a friend's birthday

8. happy mail

9. Smartboy by The Weekend

10. Facetime with a friend from the US

I love modern technology. Talking to someone who is thousands of miles away and being able to see him in real time just blows my mind every single time. It's like you're next door and go over to have a cup of coffee together.

Also, the CUBS are world Champions for the first time since 1908 - woohoo - congratulations! Makes me miss Chicago even more!

Happy Friday, y'all xxx

It's The Little Things.

It's the Little Things

Decorating for fall is my favorite. I love the warm darker hues and heavier scents. Pice cones, pumpkins, nuts, forest animals, leaves - just everything about it. It's so comforting when you enter a home smelling like fall. This time of the year feels so cozy and comfy and I just cannot get enough of it. I could take thousands of photos when I'm outside trying to hold on to it for as long as possible before the cold winter comes.

It's crazy to think that 2016 will soon be gone. And I know we say it every year, but honestly, were did time go? Why does it fly by so fast? It feels like it goes by faster every year. Fall came so quickly and in no time Christmas and New Year's will be here. Isn't it simply mind blowing.

My OLW for this year is whole and I have to admit that this time around I didn't pay as much attention to it throughout the months as I used to. It was there, in the back of my mind, all the time. And I did think about it every now and then, but I didn't "live" by it as much as I wanted to. I do feel that in the past months things kind of came more together in a sense of "whole" and we did grow a lot so far in 2016, so I am eager to find out which word will be the one for 2017. Do you have a "One Little Word" for this year? You do? Which one?

It really are the little things that count most. Those are the things that come straight from the heart and that's what makes them so precious. Just like that one little word you choose or which chooses you as a "companion" for the new year. Like a symbol to help guide you through the things that are to come.
Is there something you are already looking forward to for 2017?

How I Feel In 5 Words.

How are you today.
I could get used to Wednesday being the first workday of the week. How wonderful would that be, 4-day weekends all the time! Gosh, so much free time - sounds like a dream!
Today has been going pretty smoothly so far. I didn't like the getting up so early part though - my bed was so cozy and warm and it felt unfair having to get up before the wake of dawn. haha

But, I am here at work currently on my lunch break, while most of you are probably still sleeping due to the time difference. Unless you're a reader from Europe or a part of the world which is already busy as well. I am happy to say that more than half of my workday is already over and I am confidently working myself towards calling it a day.

Hence my feelings today:

1. Confident.

2. Relaxed.

3. Slightly tired.

4. Hopeful.

5. Anxious (my knitting project is waiting at home for me)

A little explanation to #5 for those of you who don't know me that well. I am a KNITTER at heart! Anything yarn related is totally up my alley! Most of the time I am working on at least 2 different projects at the same time, well not simultaneously, but you probably get the point and starting a new knitting project with a fresh new skein of yarn makes my heart oh so happy. I cast on for a new shawl last night and now I cannot wait to get home so I can continue working on it.

Now it's your turn: How are you? Share with us in 5 WORDS how you are today - right this minute!

Life Lately

What's been going on lately
Today is the last day of a 4-day weekend and it has been pure bliss. We've enjoyed several long fall walks with the pup just like in the picture above where we went on an evening walk in the vineyards 10 minutes away from our home. The colors were just beautiful!

Today we are headed south to visit my SIL who recently celebrated her 39th birthday which we weren't able to attend, because of work and life and so on. So we are going to celebrate it a little later this year. I am sure it will be just as wonderful though.

Life has been busy and things didn't always go as smoothly as I had liked them to, but I guess that's just how it is and that's okay. I thought it would be fun to share a little "Currently" of what I have been up to these days - feel free to share some of yours in the comments as well!

listening: Oh My My - One Republic (love)
knitting: Christmas presents
cooking: soup, stew
reading: The Ocean at the End of the Lane - novel by Neil Gaiman
watching: The Revenant (so powerful)
wanting: another day off
dreaming: of a trip to the US
hoping: #iamwithher - go vote!
drinking: chai tea
eating: all kinds of fruit
enjoying: long fall walks
dwelling: on the past (sometimes)
remembering: Chicago
considering: a career change
feeling: appreciated (sometimes underestimated)
wondering: why some people are so negative
enjoying: a long weekend

Now, what about you? What are some of the things you have been up to lately?
