I thought it was about time to sit down and have a cup of coffee again. It's been a while and I bet we have a lot to talk about. So, if we were to have a cuppa together I would share with you the following:
You probably noticed that it has been rather quiet over here in the past 2 weeks or so. You might remember Leonie suffering from pneumonia. I took a few days to take proper care of her and after returning back to work I had to make my way through the workload that had been neglected during that time. Unfortunately my co-worker who subs for me when I am gone (I sub for her as well), isn't that reliable and more of the lazy kind. So, lots of things had piled up on my desk.
And when life takes over and consumes all of you, there is no room for ideas or creativity left which are both required to run a successful blog and to write posts that are worth reading to others. That is why I was gone for a bit.
I would also tell you that I have been really busy knitting lately. I squeezed in an hour of yarn therapy each night before bedtime. It is simply one of the best ways for me to unwind, next to taking the pup on long walks. There is nothing better to clear your mind.
And I would definitely tell you about our summer vaction plans. We have been going back and forth about where to spend it this year. Originally we were looking into traveling Canada for 3 weeks, but a co-worker of the mister quit and so now he can only take off 10 days instead of 4 weeks, so we are going to have to postpone Canada to next year and look for alternatives.
I think we found a quite good one - we are now planning a trip to Tuscany, Italy. I found a few beautiful vacation homes all with a private pool and am now waiting for the landlords' responses whether or not one of them would be available during the time we are planning to travel at the end of August. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!
And last but not least, I would let you know that I was guest blogger over at A Blissful Haven yesterday and would ask you to hop on over and take a look at what I wrote about how to keep your relationship going strong!
But enough of me - now it's your turn! What has been going on in your life lately? I'd love to hear!
Happy Tuesday xxx
I turned 41 last Sunday - another year in the books. Time flies, they say. It sure does. Didn't I just celebrate the big 4-0. It's crazy how every year time seems to be going by faster and faster. Don't you think?
I enjoyed a lazy birthday this year. Sleeping in, late breakfast, a long walk in the morning sun with my man and the pup. A long hot shower afterward, a little knitting and Netflix (Marcella) on the couch and a yummy dinner at our favorite local Greek restaurant in the evening. Back at home we popped open a bottle of champagne and enjoyed a relaxing evening.
It was a fun day spent with my loved ones and I soaked up every minute of it, not letting the Monday blues get to me. Oh, how I envy you entrepreneurs for not having to battle that awful feeling Sunday nights knowing you'll have to head back to work in the morning. Not that I don't like my job, I really do. I just don't like being in the daily grind and spending such a long time away from home every single day.
I know it has been very quiet over here in the past week or so. Life was busy, so much has been going on. I needed to take a break from the online world to be more present at home and have more time for life. I guess we all have to allow ourselves this freedom to take a step back if needed.
I really hope you are still out there and all is well in your part of the world. Wishing everyone a fast Friday and a wonderful slow weekend packed with lots of lovely things.

It's been a long week and I have been very absent over here. Sometimes we just have to focus and set priorities and sometimes life needs us in the here and now. That doesn't mean I didn't think of you or my little space over here. Believe me, I did and I tried to write something substantial a couple of times, only to hit save and close the window again.
As many of you know my family has been on and off sick at home since the beginning of December last year. Leonie, my daughter had some high fevers at the beginning of January but seemed ok again 2 weeks ago. Last Sunday she sunddenly battled yet again a high fever. I took her straight to emergency care and they diagnosed pneumonia.
She has been home since Tuesday and I have been busy keeping her comfortable. She seems to finally be on the mend thanks to her meds. Nonetheless I have been a hot mess, worried sick about my girl. I guess you can understand why I stepped away from my blog for the most part of the week. My brain felt scattered and I wasn't able to write anything.
But things are starting to look better and this week did hold some happy moments for me:
1. Leonie finally feeling better
2. watching movies with my girl
3. coffee date with a friend to get my mind off of things
4. deciding on a new knitting project
5. long puppy walks
6. the mister cooking dinner
7. clean sheets
8. still watching "Call the Midwife" - LOVE
9. 5 lbs down
10. a new pair of jeans (smaller size)
It's the little things they say and that's so true! Buying a pair of jeans in a smaller size was one of my victories this week and it felt so good! I am looking forward to a lazy weekend, staying in, ordering out, knitting and cuddling with my fam.
What are your plans for the weekend?
Happy Friday xxx
Last week was a good one in so many ways. There was little to nothing to complain about and the weekend was even better. I got to spend lots of quality time with my loved ones, I had a few hours for just me and the mister spent going on an impromptu coffee date and a little shopping spree afterwards. I was able to knit a few rows here and there, did a little cleaning up around the house and I indulged in my newest addiction, my bullet journal. Guys, I was pretty hesitant to get started with it, but now I am overflowing with ideas and it is so much fun! Do you bullet journal? I'd love a few tips or sources from where you get your ideas! And I will definitely blog about my journal soon!
So, here's what I have been up to lately:
sketching: duh, my bullet journal
purchasing: pens over pens
reading: journaling tutorials
watching: Call the Midwife
listening: Charlie Cunningham 'Lines'
eating: lots of fruit and sushi
knitting: a summer shawl for a friend
wondering: if Punxsutawney Phil is right about the weather
thinking: a lot about politics lately
searching: for things to do during said trip
Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by!
According to Punxsutawney Phil we are in for another 6 weeks of cold weather because he saw his shadow in front of the crowd at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pa. We were all probably hoping for a different result, but we'll just have to wait and see if there is really some truth to his forecast after all.
It's been a good week with a day off on Wednesday. So working 2 days before and 2 after that felt like a really fast week. I wouldn't mind if every week were like that! And now that everyone seeems to be on the mend and the sickies finally decided to leave (knocking on wood - literally), things at home are back to normal and that feels really good.
Here are 10 of my happy moments these past few days:
1. the day off on Wednesday
2. Sushi date with my girl
3. snail mail
4. Malabrigo yarn delivery (be still my knitter's heart)
5. Call the Midwife
6. Pizza night
7. Coffee Date
10. puppy walks
So, there you have it - week 5 of 2017 has been rather good and I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend. What are your plans?
Now, tell me some of your happy moments this week!
Happy Friday xxx
Today is February 1st! Can you believe it? How did January just fly by? Crazy.
February is a good month. We've got 2 birthdays coming up. My dad's is on Valentine's Day and mine on the 19th. It's also Valentine's Day and we finally booked a trip to Berlin on my birthday weekend. I know I said I was thinking about booking a solo trip, just for me, but I figured I can't just up and leave on my birthday, so I will let them tag along and save that solo trip for some other time this year. It will happen though! I promised that to myself!
I took the day off today. Our company is giving every employee an extra day off for our good results last year (YAY) and I decided to take mine today. So I am looking forward to a fun day, filled with blogging, knitting, a little Netflix and a long walk with the pup. Later on I'm taking Leonie to get her hair done and on a sushi lunch date after school.
So, there's that and here's how I am today:
5. (a little) reflective
What are your plans for the day and how have you been so far this week? Please share some of your thoughts in the comments! I'd love to hear!
